Painted on a balmy summers evening as we drove through the countryside I had to stop when I saw this typical English scene in contre-jour light. As we were packing away a tiny little frog hopped into Ales hand.
The wind nearly blew my easel over a few times whilst I painted this! I enjoy capturing the subtle atmospheric colours of the English beaches in grey weather.
Painted in August, I was grateful to find some shade where I set up my easel. The dappled light on the trees and buildings made for a wonderful effect and I enjoyed using playful colours to express the heat of the day.
